Position Title: Travel Trainer and Community Outreach CoordinatorDepartment: Operations Reports to: Mobility Coordinator Revised Date:2023 Employment Status: Full-time 37.5 hours per week, at minimum CompGrade: 4 Work Hours: TBD based on business needs between the hours of8:30AM ? 4:30PM FLSA: Non-Exempt Supervisory Responsibilities: N/APosition Summary: The MART Travel Trainer will be a key member of ourtransit team. This position serves as the facilitator to teach thepublic how to use our ride services and will be primarily responsiblefor doing outreach to MART?s member community organizations andcities/towns to explain how to use, pay for, navigate, and understandour various ride services. The coordinator will be responsible forlearning, understanding, and following ADA guidelines for publictransit. This position can be said to be a seen as part publicrelations, part training, and part hands-on supporter of getting peoplecomfortable using our ride services. Important constituencies the TravelTrainer will work with are people who could use our fixed-bus routes,Councils-on-Aging members, the disabled, our workforce programs, andvarious groups that need to learn how to utilize public transit options.Think of this position as the person who teaches people how to getcomfortable with using public transportation. The Travel Trainer musthave an outgoing personality, enjoy dealing with people, and be someonewho can explain MART?s ride services to various ridership groups. Beingfluent in English and other languages, especially Spanish, would bevaluable in this role. The Travel Trainer will assess and provideappropriate training for public transportation in a wide range of travelskills including trip planning, street crossing, route and schedulereading, MART App use, payment options and safety skills. The TravelTrainer will provide outreach and make group presentations on public andcommunity transit services and educate the staff at communityorganizations to then train their program participants. Duties include,but not limited to: ? Learning all aspects of MART?s transit policiesand various services. ? Handling outreach to community groups and membertowns/cities that need travel training to learn about our services. ?Creating and providing when needed one-on-one, individualized fieldtraining by demonstrating and instructing individuals on transit skillsand how to travel routes. Creating lesson plans that are appropriate forindividuals/groups of different learning levels and situations. ?Providing in-class and in-the-field training as needed. ? Conductingoutreach to people/organizations in our service area to grow ourservices. ? Researching and identifying opportunities to expand ourservices. ? Conducting group presentations and assisting in developingmarketing materials. ? Conducting outreach to learn what our communitymembers need to meet their ride needs for now and in the future. ?Establishing relationships with professionals in the field, community,and advocacy organizations. ? Assisting in developing field surveys andways to gather information on how our services can be better designed togrow ridership and meet the needs of our customers . When duties andresponsibilities change, the employee may be asked to perform otherduties as required as business needs dictate. Additionally, MART may ask that employees conduct areview of their position as part of the performance-evaluation process.Qualifications: ? College degree or equivalent life experience required?
