About Transportation Planning and Traffic Operations Engineer

  Overview

  Our Reston, VA office is seeking an ambitious transportation planning and traffic operations (TPTO) engineer to support a variety of large transportation planning projects for public and private clients in Virginia. We are looking for an engineer with 4+ years of experience performing traffic analyses for public clients, utilizing Vissim traffic simulation software and Synchro signal timing software.   Responsibilities

Your contributions will support the effective long-range planning of multimodal corridors across the Commonwealth.

  Our team is looking for an analyst to support several large-scale traffic analysis projects in performing traffic analyses and forecasting travel demand. These projects require the use of PTV Vissim, Synchro, Cube, Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, and other related softwares. We are looking for an experienced engineer to quickly step into a task management role and support training and growth of recent graduates.

  Qualifications

  Passion for transportation planning and traffic operations, specifically interest in performing large traffic analysis projects

  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant program and 4+ years of relevant experience

  Intermediate traffic analysis skills using most of the following applications:

  PTV Vissim – experience developing models, calibrating models, performing future year analyses, and reporting results

  Synchro – experience performing traffic analyses and taking signal timings from Synchro to Vissim

  Cube or related travel demand modeling software – experience running travel demand models and forecasting future year travel demand

  Microsoft Excel – proficiency in using Excel to compile traffic counts, balance volumes, create reporting tables and figures

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills exhibited by experience writing reports and giving presentations to technical and non-technical audiences

  Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals

  Use of creativity to recommend solutions to challenging problems

  Attention to details and ability to contribute to a positive work environment

  Clear sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines

  Preferred Qualifications

  Experience using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro to perform spatial analyses and produce maps

  Experience managing tasks or small projects

  Experience teaching or delegating tasks to younger staff
