Candidates with research interest and expertise in the following areas (and related topics) of electrical engineering will be considered: Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Digital Communication (5G and beyond), Artificial Intelligence (AI) based approaches for DSP and Communication Systems, Circuits and Systems such as AI hardware accelerator for DSP, communications and sensing, Information Theory, Cyber Physical Systems. The new faculty will have numerous collaboration opportunities with several large initiatives at WSU including (but not limited to) Energy Systems Innovation Center, WSU-PNNL Advanced Grid Institute, NSF-USDA AgAID AI Institute, and DOD-funded CySER Institute for cybersecurity.Required Qualifications:• Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree from a program in electrical engineering, computer engineering or a closely related field by the time of hire.• Candidates must have published promising research works in the best venues of their areas and demonstrate a strong commitment to building a world-class research and training program.• Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to diversifying the student body.Preferred Qualifications:• Demonstrated evidence of expertise in the preparation of compelling research proposals.• Ability to initiate novel research directions that advance the field of the applicant's research area.• Identify emerging technologies and maintain deep awareness of the state of the art in the applicant's research area.• Ability to establish collaborations with other universities, national laboratories, and industry.Duties: The job duties of successful candidates include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in electrical engineering; conducting funded research; publishing in top-tier venues; directing M.S. and Ph.D. student research programs; participating in the continuous teaching assessment activities of the School of EECS; effectively communicating and interacting with students; and collaborating with others within the School, the University, or other organizations including industry and regional partners such as the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.The new faculty hired for this position will join 37 existing tenure-track faculty members in the School of EECS, which has experienced rapid growth in enrollment over the past four years. Around the Fall of 2021 approximately 1200 undergraduate students were enrolled in its B.S., and B.A programs, and 275 graduate students are enrolled in its M.S., and Ph.D. programs in computer science, electrical engineering, and computer engineering. EECS expects continued increase in enrollments and anticipates multiple faculty hires over the next two years. The current faculty composition in the School of EECS includes a member of the National Academy of Engineering and ten fellows of national professional organizations as well as fourteen CAREER and Young Investigator award recipients.
