  DescriptionFor citizens who are only able to work on Election Day, you can still play acrucial role in serving voters by helping out at Drive-up Ballot Drop-off TentTeam locations or on the 7pm Ballot Security Team.

  Drive-up Tent Team: Working in bipartisan teams, the Election DayDrive-up Tent Team Judges will be stationed outside for the duration of theirshift. They will collect ballots from voters who drive up to the drop-offlocation, and will securely deposit the ballots in drop boxes which theBallot Security Teams will collect and deliver to the Elections Warehousethroughout the day. Shifts for Drive-up Tent Team workers will be either6:30 am - 1:00 pm or 12:45 pm - 7:15 pm.

  Election Night Ballot Security Team: Drivers are needed at 4 pm to train tolock 24-hour Drop Boxes and return ballots to the Elections Warehouse afterthe 7 pm elections deadline. Election Judges on this assignment will travelin bipartisan teams of two (in the same vehicle), and will drive theirown vehicle (mileage will be paid to the team member who drives). MostElection Night Ballot Security will be done with their shift between 8:00and 9:00 pm. (Note: 7pm Election Night Ballot Security drivers are notcovered by County insurance)

  These are temporary positions for which a background check, and a motorvehicle check, are required before employment. Online and in-persontraining are required, for which Election Judges will be paid. One to twoforms of acceptable ID are required for employment.DutiesThe following duty statements are illustrative of the essentialfunctions ofthe job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may berequired. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties oressential functions of the job at any time.

  May assist in retrieving, returning and receiving ballots collected fromvoters or 24-hour drop-off boxes and Voter Service and Polling Centers(VSPCs).May be interacting with the voting public.Must accurately complete chain of custody documentation.RequirementsSKILLS AND ABILITIES:Personal communication skills enabling courteous and diplomatic interactionsand working relationships with elections staff, co-workers and voters.Ability to understand and follow oral and, sometimes, written instructions.Ability to focus on a single task for extended periods of time.Ability to accurately sort, file, and review documents.Ability to use personal mobile phone for daily communication with supervisor.BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:Consistently punctual.Flexible, willing to work the assigned schedule.Exhibits professionalism and works well with others.Follows instructions and responds well to management direction.Accepts responsibility for own actions and work product.EDUCATION:GED or high school diploma is required.Supplemental InformationADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  18 years of age or olderA resident and registered to vote in ColoradoPass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background checkNot a candidate or a relative to the 2nd degree of a candidate on the ballotNote - Student Judges are only hired for General Elections and must be 16 or17 years old.Supplemental InformationThis position requires successful completion of pre-employment backgroundcheck and motor vehicle check.

  SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Receives immediate supervision from Arapahoe County Elections employees orarea Leads.

  INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:Contacts are generally with Arapahoe County Election employees and members ofthe public, but may include elected officials. Contacts require the abilityto exercise a high degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.

  WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is outside in the elements, or may be driving a personal vehicle.

  PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with thisposition.Spends 90% of each day standing and walking and 10% sitting

  Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication, as well ascommunicationthrough automated devices such as cell phone.

  Ability to work outdoors, under awning or tent during any weatherconditions. Propane heaters will be provided as needed.

  Occasionally lifts or carries up to 50lbs, with the assistance of a co-worker.

  Definitions:Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.Frequently: Activity exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time.Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
