The Network Engineer assists in the development and maintenance of network communications. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.Essential FunctionsMaintain computer networks including mainframes, VPNs, routers and other physical hardware.Install and configure network equipment.Creating firewalls and updating virus protection software and data security systems to keep data and communications protected.Monitoring computer systems to improve network performance for all systems.Troubleshooting, resolving, and communicating networking issues to other employees and management.Performing vulnerability assessments and required patching to ensure compliance with standard processes.Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.Suggesting improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not intended to be a complete or exclusive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
