Overview:
This position includes work direction, coordination and oversight of aspecific crew(s)
ranging from 2-8 employees or subcontractors. This position isresponsible for overall
safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employeecommunication, and
productivity measures. This position will specifically manage a crewthat can oversee a
specific set of operations which can include, but not limited to: Trench& Plow, Aerial,
Drilling/Bore, Asphalt or Conduit. This can include machine operation aswell. This position
must be able to interface with customer and city inspectors on afrequent basis, coordinate
pre-construction meetings, keep detailed safety and production records,do as-builds as
required and be a leader for all the crews. The ideal candidate willalso need to be a skilled
excavation operator. This position will also assist with gettingpermits, ensuring crew and
site safety and calling locates.
This position must possess excellent customer service skills, be willingto face issues in a
positive manner and resolve day to day conflicts as they arise.Professional reporting, time
sheets, job cost, material slips, purchase orders and equipmentmaintenance experience are
required for this position. This individual must assume personalresponsibility for the
overall safety, job sites, customer, OSHA, DOT, and company policy andprocedures.
Responsibilities:
? Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment.
? Excavation operations including operating equipment and transportationof
equipment if needed
? General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group ofsub-contractors.
? Assisting in securing site; employees and safety
? General maintenance
? General utility installation/repair
? Assists with as-builds and ensures attention to detail and highquality work
? May assist supervisor in administrative tasks relating to hiring andinterviewing
employees.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements:
? 6-12 months of work-related experience pertaining to utilityconstruction,
telecommunications or laborer related work
? Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce highquality results
? Any combination of education and/or experience that demonstratesability to
perform the designated job duties and responsibilities of the position.
Reasoning Ability:
? Ability to make commo n sense understanding to carry out instructionsthat are
provided in written, oral or drawing. Ability to deal with andunderstand problems
involving different variables in many varied situations involvingemployees,
customers and vendors.
Mathematical Skills:
? Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms ofdistance,
proportions, percentages and area. Ability to apply concepts of basicmathematics.
Language Skills:
? Ability to read, understand and interpret documents such as safetyrules and
requirements, machine manuals of operation and process procedures.Ability to
write information including reports. Ability to speak effectively tocustomers,
coworkers, vendors and the public.
Other Requirements:
? Must possess a valid drivers license.
