Summary: The Weld Technician will direct the work and parts flow in their respective production area and assist employees in the operation of the equipment.
Job Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.
Assist the employee in his/her work and in training operators on machine operations, quality inspections and HMI screen navigation
Set up machines per specifications. Perform quality checks on first part/last part checks when setting up cells
Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor corrections to equipment. Contact the supervisor or proper support personnel to report machine or tooling problems
Assist with/performs tip changes and wire barrel changes
Perform preventative maintenance duties as required
Complete work orders as required. Fill out tool room and maintenance work orders for more technical issues/concerns
Assist the supervisor in day- to- day production related tasks
Utilize CMS for production reporting and inventory management
Recover robot faults, touch up weld points and robot programs
Use applicable software programs
Responsible for the quality of parts produced in the area and reports any non-conforming parts to supervisor and/or quality department
Review and update logbook for operational problems
Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
Foster positive working relationships with all personnel of the division
Recommend proposals for improving products, processes, systems and work environment through the Continuous Improvement process
Lead by example in attendance, good work performance and by displaying positive behaviors
Have vision reviewed annually with recognized corrected levels (minimum of 20/30 near and distance with corrective lenses)
Participate in training programs to update skills as required
Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED requiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to obtain a fork truck license and to operate overhead crane
Understands applicable software programs
Ability to understand and apply mechanical processes and theory
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to set direction and make decisions
Must have good organizational skills
Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
