At Summit Companies we provide services designed to protect buildings, assets, and most important people. We are currently seeking a Shop Tech for our Saint Paul, Minnesota location. NOTE: This is a PART TIME opportunity. Essential Functions: Picking up and receiving of fire alarm, fire sprinkler pipe, and devices with some truck driving. Help keep shop and fire alarm holding areas clean. Be courteous to our service techs, co-workers, and wholesale customers. Perform Hydro testing and extinguisher re-fills. Assist our mobile service techs with their routes. Job Requirements: Operate Forklift Must be able to stand for long periods of time. You will be on your feet all day with the exception of morning and afternoon breaks and lunch Need to be able to work with hand tools. We provide on-the-job training Job purpose We expect our service technicians to be self-driven, with the ability to schedule and complete the work load provided. Although the position would allow for some flexibility in scheduling customer visits, we expect a 40 hour minimum work week. A valid driver's license with a good record is required. Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug test. Duties and responsibilities Perform inspections and service on a variety of fire protection equipment including: portable fire extinguishers and emergency lighting. Seek out additional sales and service opportunities within existing customer locations, and advise the customer of compliance needs. Develop long term relationships with customers and maintain customer retention. Qualifications Mechanical ability and basic hand tool knowledge. Ability to lift 75 lbs+, safely use ladders, work overhead and work in tight spaces. Work efficiently with minimal supervision Organizational skills are essential for success Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to learn quickly is a must.
