Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician II, under general supervision of a pharmacist,performs technical tasks within the pharmacy department. Based on area ofassignment, responsibilities may include medication preparation,compounding, dispensing, inventory control, unit dose prepackaging,and basic computer system operations. Demonstrates the ability to competentlywork in general some specialty areas of pharmacy practice.
Essential Functions:
Fills and delivers/dispenses medications under the supervision of a licensedpharmacist. Performs introductory technical tasks in specialty areas such asmedication histories, sterile and non-sterile preparation, payeradjudication, call center, clinical pharmacy support, inventorymanagement including controlled substance handling and accountability, andrepackaging. Uses appropriate systems for processing of patient information.(Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technicianscope of practice to the staff pharmacist or supervisor as needed. (30%)Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. Operatespharmacy equipment appropriately. (20%)Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required andPost High School Diploma or Certificate Program completion of a pharmacytechnician training program, preferredWork Experience:
1-3 years At least one year of pharmacy technician in a healthcare or retailsetting RequiredLicenses:
CPHT-Certified Pharmacy Technician - PTCB - Pharmacy Technician CertificationBoard Required andPHAT-Licensed Pharmacy Technician - DORA - Department of Regulatory AgenciesRequiredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
