Job Summary:
The selected candidate will provide matrixed technical writing services to other organizational groups through writing, editing, and/or rewriting, either as original concepts or under direction, technical articles, publications, manuals, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively technical procedures, research findings, technical developments, and other news and information to a wide range of internal or external audiences.
On any given day, one may be called upon to:
Write, compile, and edit presentations and documents for information, status, and understanding of weapons surveillance for senior level managers and programs
Write, compile, and edit highly technical requirements-based documentation of critical importance for nuclear deterrence programs working with a team of other Technical Writers and Editors
Apply knowledge of internal business practices to manage information flow between Production Realization Teams (PRTs), customers, and management
Apply rigor and timely formatting and editing to an array of documents and communications to ensure quality of the delivered product
Gather accomplishments; produce monthly reports, prepare and edit documentation, and assist with presentations and documentation for program reviews
Ensure requirements are met and documentation is clear, concise, and understandable by its intended audience(s)
Build uniform approaches, educate and assist customers, and collaborate with coworkers; provide mentorship to emerging Technical Writer & Editors
Acquire or verify subject knowledge by interviewing subjects, observing

Security Clearance Required:

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a relevant field, plus 5 years related experience or working with highly technical writing and editing; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job
Experience developing, planning, and editing technical reports, white papers, and/or presentations
Ability to obtain a DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications (Desired):
Master's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a relevant field
Experience working with nuclear deterrence documentation as well as with PRIME, PDM Link, EIMS, and/or SharePoint systems
Proven experience working with classified information on weapons programs and weapons documentation requirements
Experience with the following:
Composing communication products
Working cross-site, cross location programs
Developing positive customer relationships, processes, and procedures
Mentoring emerging coworkers
An active DOE Q-level security clearance; or other equivalent active security clearance such as DOD Top Secret
