  Job Description:

  Technical Manager, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Decatur, IL. Design downstream process for existing and new biochemical reactions. Execute biochemical process-related research projects. Develop experimental plans with manager to accomplish project goals. Set-up, maintain and operate laboratory and pilot plant reactors and downstream systems for continuous and batch reactions. Generate and interpret data using scientific and statistical techniques. Report on status of research activities. Construct and modify equipment according to experimental specifications and safety protocols. Participate in safety reviews on projects. Troubleshoot production processes and optimization for continuous improvement.

  40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

  MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

  Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field, and seven (7) years of related work experience.

  Must have five (5) years of experience with/in the following:

  Knowledge of downstream unit operations including liquid-solids separation, clarification, micro- and ultrafiltration, liquid formulation, spray drying and finished product manufacturing;

  Phase gated project management processes, including technical project management;

  Leveraging knowledge of fermentation including amino acids, enzymes, and secondary metabolites;

  Implementing Food Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) processes for manufacturing;

  Transferring and troubleshooting in Fermentation and Downstream processing; and

  Scaling production from bench to pilot to commercial scale.

  Up to 15% national travel required.
