Main purpose of job

　　As a Technical Engineer, you will undertake all technical activities relating to Howden range of turbo machine for process gas and ventilation application. You will provide technical support to project manager in the formulation of technical for rotatory heater, fan and compressor, as well as offer support and advice to sales proposals, operations, quality and aftermarket areas of the business.

　　Accountabilities

　　Communicate any identified technical issues to appropriate project/functional manager and offer practical solutions where available.

　　Design innovative technical solutions within agreed timeframes that adhere to Howden standards and meet customer requirements.

　　Carry out necessary mechanical design calculations to enable initial required project information to be generated for issue to customer for review.

　　Provide mechanical design engineering support to design draughtsman and other project team functional disciplines throughout detailed design project phase.

　　Plan and organize own workload to ensure timely availability of purchasing/manufacturing data/drawings.

　　Actively participate in essential design and safety reviews to ensure fitness of purpose of Howden products including consideration for operability, reliability, maintainability, etc. Additionally use such reviews to identify potential improvements of product ideas, resources and design processes.

　　Lead 3D modelling activities and participate in customer 3D model reviews as required, ensuring that internal processes are standardized and developed as necessary.

　　Evaluate and provide impartial technical reviews of sub-vendor bids to assist procurement activity.

　　Ensure all work undertaken considers commercial and financial implications of task from a business perspective.

　　Ability to generate/modify Bills of Material and specifications in line with company standards.

　　Ability to check and approve drawings, BoM’s etc.

　　Provide technical support to shop floor regarding interpretation of drawings or assemblies.

　　Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives supporting cost reduction, efficiency, delivery and Quality improvements.

　　Use Continuous Improvement methodologies to promote Built in Engineering Quality concepts into Standard work. Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Commercial and Procurement teams to drive improved manufacturing and supply chain performance and early defect detection.

　　Support and advise on corrections for non-conformance process.

　　Requirements

　　Bachelor’s Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or suitable experience

　　Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role

　　Excellent general mechanical design engineering knowledge gained in a Rotating equipment environment.

　　Ability to create technical reports and make technical presentations.

　　Good team-working skills and ethic

　　Broad range of communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients, senior management and shop floor personnel.

　　Basic English communication ability

　　The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadline.

　　Sound commercial awareness.

　　Knowledge of piping/assembly/packaging design

　　Ability to create technical reports and make technical presentations.

　　Experience working in lean and continuous improvement environment and of using associated operational excellence and growth tools and processes.

　　Basic 2D/3D CAD skills

　　Excellent technical knowledge of Pressure Vessels and Piping Systems and associated design codes such as ASME B31.3 and ASME VIII

　　Knowledge of process gases, hydraulics or pneumatics.
