　　General Description

　　Position: Q57 - TECHNICAL DESIGNER - FOOTWEAR

　　Basic Functions:

　　Provide technical expertise related to the materials, construction and manufacture of all genders of footwer to ensure quality of private brands and JCPPC sourced products. Oversee all details on childrens shoes to ensure that products meet defined safety standards

　　Principal Responsibilities:

　　Work with Home Office Technical Design and Product Development to approve or reject confirmation samples. Communicate all results via flex.

　　Liaise between factory and Home Office to improve sample quality and reduce time and cost.

　　Provide guidance to IBO QA staff by completing Critical Points of Attention and Risk Reports prior to production start-up.

　　Provides expertise to Sourcing, as required, regarding cost, alternative methods of construction and materials

　　Provide expertise to factory technical teams with regards to manufacturing techniques and new equipment innovation.

　　Work with Product Safety and Legal team if failed items have safety or legal issues.

　　Review on-line final inspection reports and provide appropriate disposition..

　　Educate and advise company associates of the technical aspects of TD, QA and testing as it relates to the product

　　Knowledge & Skills:

　　Education:

　　University Degree in appropriate technical area or equivalent industry experience

　　Very good English writing and speaking skills required

　　Good computer skills

　　Experience:

　　Working knowledge of current industry-accepted standards, practices and manufacturing procedures

　　Exhibit general understanding of testing requirements as related to the applicable industrial standards.

　　Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of merchandise manufacture and evaluation is required

　　Recommendations:

　　Practical construction tolerances.

　　Exceptions to established standards.

　　Understanding of different construction types and equipment requirements for each
