Essential JobResponsibilities Regular and consistent attendance is an essentialfunction of this position. General Duties Actively supervises andmonitors children at all times to ensure their safety. Daily childattendance and frequent head counts. Implements a system to ensureaccurate CACFP Meal Counts are taken at point of service. Promotes thesocial, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of Head Startchildren. Provides a quality learning environment. Provides anatmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in theclassroom. Adapts curriculum to address and meet individual goals forchildren as identified in their individualized education plans. Assessesindividual and group needs, attending to special needs, specificinterests, strengths, and concerns. Develops and utilizes integratedcurriculum plans, which reflect child outcomes, parental and culturalinfluences. Develops weekly lesson plans and goals that promoteindividual and group experiences. Prepares classroom materials tosupport developmentally appropriate curriculum plans; creates andchanges learning environment as needed. Implements positive childguidance and behavior management strategies. Follows a consistentschedule, which includes small and large group experiences, choice time,music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development,meals, and effective transitions. Implements effective IntentionalTeaching Strategies. (CLASS) Encourages experimentation, exploration,problem solving, cooperation and socialization. Asks open-endedquestions and listens respectfully to the answers. Participates indevelopmental screenings and referral process within 45 days of child\'senrollment. Documents baseline and ongoing assessment (3 times per year)of children in TS GOLD. Completes two (2) educational home visits andtwo (2) parent teacher conferences. Communicates regularly with parentsregarding each child\'s progress. Works with appropriate agencies indeveloping specialized services for children as needed. Documents allsignificant classroom issues, parent contacts and home visits. Reportssuspected child abuse and neglect. On-Going Cleaning and Sanitizing.***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge ofDevelopmentally Appropriate Practices. Knowledge of how children learnthrough multiple intelligences. Knowledge of child growth anddevelopment. Knowledge of effective teaching strategies andinterventions. Skill and willingness to deal with sensitive familysituations in a non-threatening and professional manner. Daily kneeling,stooping, bending, lifting, and sitting on the floor to attend tochildren\'s needs. Arrives at work on time, punctually attends andactively participants in all required meetings, training and overnightretreats and training. Ability to respond appropriately (both mentallyand physically) to an emergency or a crisis. Ability to work as a teammember collaborating with parents and community resources. Patient andprofessional attitude toward program participants while managing a busyworkload requires good interpersonal skills. Respectful, cooperative,and reliable team member and participant in program activities.
