Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
The Sr Systems Analyst is responsible for maintaining systems and their associated operating systems for computer applications. Conducts analysis, creates system specifications, develops, tests, and implements operating systems. Utilizes existing or new technology in the automation of processes. Evaluates software packages and provides recommendations to management.
Typical Duties
Acts as the top expert operational support analyst of the Windows computing environment. Responsibilities include hardware installations, upgrades, operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, backup and recovery administration, maintaining users and peripheral equipment, troubleshooting system and application issues. (25-50%)
Performs research and makes recommendations for network software and hardware. (25-40%)
Provides complex technical recommendations for information systems operations network environments. Implements modifications to increase system capacity. Compiles records and reports concerning production, machine operations and maintenance. May advise on workflow plans, methods and procedures analysis. Analyzes the results of performance and systems management software and recommends changes to improve processing and utilization. (10-20%)
Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interfaces with the user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to accommodate them. Conducts accurate evaluation of the level of security required. (5-10%)
Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems using a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques. Provides primary interface with vendor support service groups or provides internal analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Provides guidance and training for less experienced technicians. (5-10%)
Provides documentation for the support of information technology processes and procedures. (5-10%)
Develops programs to support application and system operations. (5-10%)
Provides technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5-10%)
Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)
Fundamental knowledge of installation, management, and system support for the following:
Experience supporting Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Windows 10/11, VMWare vCenter, VMWare Sphere and Hyper Converted infrastructure.
Experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy
Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
Demonstrated experience working on SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) or industrial control systems.
Knowledge in cyber security and experience implementing CIS (Center for Internet Security) Controls, CSC (Critical Security Controls) Top 18, NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) or other security control sets
Understand/adhere to and implement overall security policies
Familiarity in developing standards and procedures
Experience in implementing allow listing software
Experience with automating tasks with PowerShell
Demonstrated experience with software deployment tools and security configuration management tools.
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows applications
Extensive experience installing, configuring, and maintaining third party applications
Server and client administration to include patching, hardening and performance tuning
Familiarity with remote support and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills at a complex level.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with peers and upper management.
The Analyst L1 position requires a minimum of two years of related experience resulting in a demonstrated ability to support the technology systems as outlined.
The Analyst L2 position requires a minimum of four years of related experience resulting in a demonstrated ability to support the technology systems as outlined.
The Analyst L3 position requires a minimum of six years of related experience resulting in a demonstrated ability to support the technology systems as outlined.
The Sr Analyst positions requires a minimum of ten years of related experience resulting in a demonstrated ability to support the technology systems as outlined.
