  Job Posting: Sylvan @ Schools Tutor for Los Angeles Area Schools Overview: Sylvan Learning, the industry leader in supplemental education, is seeking dedicated Tutors to join our team in the Los Angeles area to provide tutoring on school sites.  The majority of this tutoring will occur at local elementary schools providing essential reading and math tutoring. Locations: We have participating schools in Downtown LA, the Glendale area, and in the San Fernando Valley.  You will also be hosted by a local Sylvan Learning Center nearest you. Duration: Sylvan @ Schools Tutors can expect to work during the school year and on any summer contracts. Compensation: - Training rate: $17/hour (10-16 hours) - Daily rate: $68/day for 2-hour tutoring shift, $95 for 3-hour tutoring shift (daily rate includes set-up and clean-up time). Schedule: - Tutors can expect to tutor between 1.5 hours to 3 hours per day, 3 to 4 days per week.  Tutors will be assigned to a specific school. - Tutoring will occur between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM and may vary based upon the needs of the school and their bell schedule.  Tutors are required to arrive 30-minutes before their scheduled tutoring to set up. - Start date: January 2024 - End date: Approx. May 31, 2024 (Renewal in fall for teachers who would like to stay contracted) - About 10 hours of training and preparation. Current Applicants need to be available on Mondays and Thursdays (at least) Responsibilities: - Deliver guided, scripted curriculum to groups of up to 8 students on local school campuses within a 2-mile radius of the Sylvan Hub Location. - Set up and manage the learning environment, utilizing Sylvan's proven programs. - Motivate students with resources from our on-site toy store. - Collaborate with Program Manager and Director to ensure smooth program execution. - Attend online training provided by Sylvan and participate in shadowing experiences. Qualifications & Requirements: - Associate's Degree or 2-years college completion toward 4-year degree required  - Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred. - Strong organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. - Must have reliable transportation. - Must obtain a TB clearance and complete a livescan background check Additional Information: - Training provided by Sylvan. - Sessions held on local school campuses. - Highly encouraged to be available for contract renewal in the fall. - Opportunities for professional development and growth as well as additional tutoring shifts in our Sylvan Learning Centers.
