Conduct field surveys and special studies; performing calculations and recording results and dataOperate survey instruments and apply current surveying principles, practices and standards to gather and record data as appropriate for projectMeasure and record angles, distances and elevations; perform mathematical calculations and transfer information to cross-section paperRecord object (e.g., trees, signs) location coordinates and dataDetermine and record coordinates for private, county and township property boundaries and right-of-waysPhotograph or otherwise record miscellaneous data for inspectors (e.g., elevation, curbs, catch basins, etc.)Research old surveys for informationSetting up field markers/stakes prior to start of construction projects, identifying boundaries, objects, topographical grades of significance25% Time:
SupervisionReview application materialsSchedule employees for work and assign tasksReview employee record of time worked to verify accuracyDetermine and secure an adequate supply of working equipment (complete with appropriate safety guards) needed to perform the workConduct orientation and training programs for new employees including the demonstration of proper methods for equipment operation, safety techniques and practicesReview work in progress; adjusting work methods as necessary to ensure timely completion and high quality of work. Review work upon completionObserve and record employee performance-related incidents for use in compiling performance evaluations. Recommend disciplinary action as necessary and discuss performance issues with employees.
