Job Overview
The Surgical Technician Lead is a certified clinician who providesintra-operative technical assistance to physicians and Registered Nurses(RN) who care for patients experiencing a surgical intervention or otherinvasive procedure. This role actively participates in the work of the unit,committee work, and program level activities and projects. In addition,the Lead Technician takes on the additional duties of an Assistant ServiceLeader for one or more surgical specialties.

Qualifications
Education: Associates degree in Surgical Technology is required.Experience: Three years of surgical technician experience in an operatingroom is required.Equivalency: Graduate of a military training program in surgical technologyor Diploma in Surgical Technology with a surgical technologist certificationmay be considered in lieu of an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology.Certification(s): American Heart Association Basic Life Support(BLS) for Healthcare Providers at time of hire. NBSTSA or NCCT CertifiedSurgical TechnologistLicensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies(DORA) Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant RegistrationThis position may require a BLS certification from the American HeartAssociation. Responsibilities
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Acts as assistant service leader for one or more surgical specialties.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating thepurchase of supplies and equipment for the service(s) as needed; actingas a res urce to staff and physicians for the services provided; assistingin orientation of staff to the specialty; creating and updating newprocedures and preference cards as needed; acquiring loanerequipment/instruments/supplies from outside sources as needed; being apositive role model; and assisting with the implementation of new proceduresand/or equipment/instrumentation within the service.Participates in proactive preparation for assigned surgical specialtiesand/or participates in case review.Assists with room turnovers and set-ups; restocks and orders supplies;utilizes downtime effectively; and participates in department qualityimprovement activities.Provides in-services to staff as applicable to surgical specialty.Utilizes preference cards to prepare for surgical procedure; scrubs allcases as assigned; anticipates needs of case by opening correct supplies andinstruments; is attentive to flow of the surgery so that surgeons' needsare anticipated.Precepts...
