GENERAL PURPOSE Designs and develops manufacturing processes for structured wiring, connectivity, and audio-visual solutions, including process development, design for manufacturing, fixture/tool and equipment design, documentation, implementation, problem solving, training, transfer to manufacturing, and hands-on manufacturing assistance. Working cross-functionally with our design team, the Supplier Development Engineer will bring products from design and prototyping through testing, design verification/validation, manufacturing, and drive post introduction cost savings through Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE). There is a strong preference for this position to be located in Texas. DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Develop new and improve existing manufacturing processes to produce high-quality products. Use technical knowledge and industry experience to ensure manufacturing processes are capable and "designed for manufacture." Plan, conduct and analyze process/product tests to understand variables and interactions. Write engineering reports to document tests, results and conclusions. Specify equipment and processes to meet customer requirements/specifications. Design and implement new or improved fixtures and tools to support manufacturing processes. Maintain relationships with and suppliers. Ensure clear communication of specifications and deliverables.. Utilize six-sigma quality tools, when appropriate, to define, measure, analyze, improve and control processes and outcomes. Lead projects as requested pertaining to process development, fixture development, and/or equipment implementation leading to cost reductions Establish and maintain open communications and productive relationships with individuals in all levels of the organization, customers and suppliers. Provide status updates and ongoing communications to suppliers, internal colleagues and customers. Enforce and contribute to a culture of safety and compliance through technical specifications, training and awareness of standards and regulations. Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in safety programs, initiatives, and investigations. Utilizes disciplined, methodical approach to problem solving with an urgency to understand the problem and see it through to resolution. SolidWorks or similar CAD program Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technically and professionally describe test scenarios, deviations, non-compliances and risks. Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form Excellent project management and planning skills, while providing high attention to details Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system) Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc. Quality mindedness Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information Minimum Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year c llege or university and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing manufacturing processes. Requires experience with injection molding and a preference manufacturing process of metal stamping, welding, power coating, and assembly operations. Preferred experience in mold tooling and design, machinery, assembly fixtures, equipment and tooling procurement and design Special Job Requirements: May require frequent availability and communication during non-standard business hours to communicate with global team members Ability to work long hours as required to support the Company's operations and business objectives Availability for international travel Preferred Qualifications: SAP System experience Fluent in both English and Spanish WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to reach above shoulder level, reach below knee level, push, pull, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, climb and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard. Combination of general office and distribution center environment (no air conditioning) Requires regular ground travel to other company facilities within the domestic geographic area.
