We are better together and together We Are Altasciences.About the roleThe Supervisor for Specimen Management is responsible for staffing, training and supervising assigned personnel within the Specimen Management area. This position is responsible for ensuring that his/her functional area is operating with full compliance to GLP requirements, Protocol, SOP and additional sponsor requirements are communicated and met through proactive and efficient resource management. The Supervisor will overview the schedule ensuring efficient workflow and group training.What You'll Do HereEnsure staff maintain Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).Create, review and revise workload and scheduling to ensure optimal results.Monitor progress of studies to ensure timely response, track and monitor timelines and audits.Schedule and supervise staff in Specimen Management. Determine the training required for the group, train, manage and monitor assigned staff. Communicate areas of accountability and performance expected to staff.Attend and participate in meetings regarding study planning and management of specimens.Coordinates and communicates with Study Directors, Coordinators, Pathologists,Laboratory staff, Vivarium staff and different shipping agencies.Ensure that the proper import permits/certificates are valid and that proper permits/certificates are in place before shipping specimens to intended recipient.Ensure that the department is meeting internal and external deadlines.Ensure that data/equipment is accurate, complete, consistent and compliant to GLP/SOP.Maintain documentation of procedures and equipment used and performs quality control of forms and logs.Directly supervises employees.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints andresolving problems.What You'll Need to SucceedBachelor degree specializing in a scientific discipline desired. Experience may substitute for stated requirements in some casesMinimum of two years experience in a laboratory or regulated environment desired or equivalent combination of education and experience.Supervisory experience is desired, preferably in a regulated environment.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Navigational skills are desirable. Watson system and other software programs are a plus.Strong verbal and communication skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software and procedure manuals and study documents. Must be able to write correspondence and speak effectively with other groups within the organization. Routine reports may be requested.Basic math skills. Ability to deal with weight conversions and inventory system.Previous laboratory experience preferred.What We OfferThe pay range estimated for this position is $63,000 to $85,000 per year.
