Position Summary:
The Security Supervisor is responsible to help manage the day-to-day operations at McLaren Oakland and its off-site Clarkston, Lake Orion, and Oxford Facilities.
Build, improve, and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
Ability to respond immediately to de-escalate threats, and other emergency and non-emergency situations.
Supervise the security officers, including hiring, scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, developing the team.
Must be a certified K9 Handler with one year of hospital K9 Handler experience.
Must be suitable to carry a firearm.
Must have knowledge of fire, safety, and security computer programs that i
nclude CCTV camera, card access, ID badge management, vehicle maintenance, parking management, and radio communications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Plan and administer effective management and delivery of security services in accordance with all hospital system, and regulatory agency standards.
Protect the life and property of visitors, patients, and staff.
Prevent theft, vandalism, arson, robbery, and other such offenses and investigate thefts, disturbances, and suspicious activities.
Detect and prevent fire and safety hazards.
Proactively patrol the hospital buildings and campus.
Provide escort service and directional assistance to patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsible for department payroll, schedule, and tracking attendance.
Interviews, makes hiring recommendations and trains personnel. Provides input into performance appraisals for staff, disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsible for the direct supervision of employees on assigned shift.
Conducts investigations, participates in the interview process, and provides feedback.
Releases bodies from morgue.
Assures and provides exceptional documentation of event/occurrences and provides appropriate notification and follow-through on all incidents.
Provides input to the Manager, Security about improving the effectiveness of the security program.
Participates in security training for staff, including new employee orientation.
Provides input to the Manager, Security about operational procedures for hospital staff and performance improvement activities.
Attends leadership meetings as appropriate.
Performs other related job duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Required:
Associates degree in Criminal Justice, Security Administration, or related field.
One year of prior work experience in a hospital security department.
One year hospital K9 Handler experience.
Must be suitable to carry firearm.
Must possess valid Michigan Driver’s License and be insurable under the hospital insurance program
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Administration, or related field.
Three years of hospital security supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be insurable under the hospital’s fleet insurance and have a valid Michigan driver’s license-required
