DescriptionQUALIFICATIONS:1. National Archery in the Schools Program Basic Archery Instructor (NASP BAI). Training can be provided by camp.GENERAL DUTIES:2. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.3. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.4. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.5. Prepare and deliver the Archery Instructor camp brief at the end of the summer.6. Assist with evening cabin supervision7. Any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Program DirectorSPECIFIC DUTIES:Safety and Supervision1. Enforce camp policies and procedures2. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times.3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at alltimes.4. Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.5. Perform "Break Day" duties as scheduledWeekly Responsibilities - Archery:1. Follow the NASP Archery curriculum and range instructors for running the range and teaching archery.2. Directly supervise all activities at the archery range.3. Provide for all necessary repairs to the range and archery equipment.4. Account for all arrows at the end of each activity period.5. File a written report and log all accidents and near misses. A near miss may include but not belimited to the following: Campers retrieving arrows before all shooters have finished, Loadedbows pointed in the direction of participants, dry fired bows pointed at participants, etc..6. Tag as "needing inspection" any cracked or broken arrows, bows or bow strings.7. Keep range area clear and clean of litter and tall grass.8. Post all range commands, rules for use of equipment, and emergency procedures at range9. Know and be able to execute the emergency procedures.10. Take water and a supply of cups and trash bags out for each activity period.11. Order needed supplies through the Recreation director.12. Prepare the Archery Instructor brief at the end of the summer.Weekly Responsibilities: Challenge Course1. Create an environment that leads groups to successa. Know the type of group, and the specific needs, of the group your working withb. Maintain open, friendly, and professional relationships with participantsc. Maintain an attitude of fun and excitementd. Use encouragement and positive reinforcement in all situations2. Lead games initiatives and elements for groups ranging from 8 to 20 campersa. Communicate clearly the instructions for each game, initiative, and element in a fun and creative mannerb. Have all equipment and props prepared before the campers arrivalc. Participate in training sessions held by the Assistant Camp Administratord. Ensure the safety of campers and staff3. Inspect all equipment, hardware and elements for damage before and after each coursea. Report all damaged equipment, hardware and elements on a pre-use inspection form and verbally to theAssistant Camp Administratorb. Participate in safety trainingc. Communicate clearly all safety procedures and standards to participants for each activityd. Be attentive to surroundings and participants needs during all coursese. Be aware of any medical/physical conditions or special needs of the campers4. Lead briefing and debriefing sessions with each groupa.
