Job Description: The Student SummerResearch Fellow will develop an understanding of medical research in acommunity-based clinical setting through a 13-week summer internship.Students will utilize commonly used experimental designs for researchstudies and gain insight in disease processes, observation of diagnosticand treatment interventions. Major Responsibilities: 1. In collaborationwith a Principal Investigator (PI), research mentor, andbiostatistician, the student will work on a research project, includingbut not limited to data collection through review of patient medicalrecords, data entry, analysis, and potentially publication. 2. Studentswill utilize available resources, including but not limited to, themedical library, online resources, departmental guidelines and policies,and methods of scientific writing, to complete specific research projectgoals. 3. Students will present a 15-minute verbal PowerPointpresentation of their research project findings at a noon conference atthe end of the summer internship. 4. Students will gain knowledge ofmedical departments through specific departmental training and shadowingexperiences. 5. Perform other duties as assigned.
