  Job Summary

  By joining our BV Construction group, you will have the ability to develop and enhance your skills in an on-site, hands-on environment. Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering.

  Responsible for assuring that the startup program is regularly reviewed and revised as needed to incorporate lessons learned and other program enhancements. Accountable for assuring the availability of startup personnel resources with proper expertise and tools to support proposal preparation and project execution efforts while meeting budget and schedule requirements. Has the authority to recruit and allocate resources, provide training, and administer the Startup group in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, and Guides.

  Key Responsibilities

  Provides support to project teams for planning and execution of project startup activities .

  Provides support for Commissioning Managers and other startup personnel to address project specific issues .

  Develops startup services scope and cost for construction proposals

  Coordinates with Manager of Construction Proposals to ensure startup scope is properly addressed .

  Monitors, reviews, and reports on project startup activities and takes corrective action as necessary to resolve any problems .

  Directs initiative for marketing of startup services to customers outside Company .

  Develops, maintains, and implements group-related standards, guides, and reference documents with approval of Manager of Construction Administration .

  Coordinates with Manager of Human Resources to provide startup support staff to projects .

  Assigns group staff to work on proposal and project teams

  Keeps Manager of Construction Administration and Manager of Human Resources informed of group workload and staffing needs .

  Identifies section training needs and coordinates training programs for section

  Trains and mentors section staff in technical execution .

  Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports .

  Adheres to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities .

  Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value

  Champions continuous improvement efforts

  Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements

  Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities .

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

  10+ years of startup and/or power-related management experience.

  OSHA 10

  Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

  • See and hear naturally or with correction.

  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.

  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.

  • Requires repetitive movement.

  • May require work above 5 feet in height.

  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

  • Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.

  • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.

  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.

  • Work around hazardous equipment.
