The purpose of this position is to provide research and analytical support to the Center on Poverty and Social Policy and the Columbia Population Research Center. As the Poverty Tracker and Early Childhood Poverty Tracker studies have grown, there is an increased need to work with and analyze the data that has come in through the study. This new position will be responsible for producing reports and analyses using data from the Poverty Tracker and Early Childhood Poverty Tracker in order to meet the projects' contract goals. Additionally, this position will support other data analysis projects associated with the Center on Poverty and Social policy on an as needed basis.
Under the direction and supervision of two Senior Research Scientists, the incumbent will perform the following responsibilities:
Data analysis and report writing using data collected through the Robin Hood surveys (55%)Supervise student employees assisting with data management and data analysis. (15%)Data analysis and report writing using additional data sets in support of CPSP research projects (25%)Other duties as assigned (5%)This position includes the supervision of student research assistants helping with data management and analysis.
THIS POSITION IS 100% GRANT FUNDED
BA/BS in social science field (e.g., economics, sociology, political science, social work, psychology, or other social science field). Work experience in an academic setting required.
Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and software for data management and/or data analysis (Stata); demonstrated organizational skills; demonstrated initiative; attention to detail.
Four plus years of experience conducting social science research required.
