About Staff Associate I

The Brickman Lab at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain is currently recruiting a full-time staff associate to primarily work on an intergenerational study that examines biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease and cognitive aging. The study recruits racially and ethnically diverse participants with family roots in northern Manhattan.

The staff associate will be responsible for coordinating research efforts of collecting MRI images in a diverse study cohort, and for supporting the research efforts of ancillary studies. Tasks include the recruitment of study subjects into both studies, screening and scheduling study visits, collecting informed consent and accompanying subjects throughout their visits, maintaining regulatory records, IRB applications and renewals, as well as updating and monitoring the study REDCap database. After extensive training, the candidate should be able to independently acquire MRI scans at the Zuckerman Institute. Additional responsibilities may include biospecimen collection, shipment and delivery as well as quality controlling imaging and neuropsychological data. The staff associate will attend regular team meetings to present on study progress and discuss any concerns. Some flexibility in work schedule should be expected.

Requirement - Bachelor's degree in specific research field and 4 years experience preferred.

Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual in English and Spanish and are able to effortlessly communicate study-related materials to a diverse population in both languages.

The successful applicant has a background in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or related field. Previous experience in research data collection (particularly patient-facing imaging acquisition), subject evaluation, and study management including human research subjects is required.

Must be able to prioritize assignments, work proactively, and collaborate effectively with the team. A friendly demeanor and the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and meet internal and external deadlines are essential. Must be highly organized, enthusiastic, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We are looking for a proactive problem solver who genuinely enjoys working with people and is curious about the science behind what we do.

  Preferred Qualifications:

Past involvement in clinical trials and/or MRI studies in the field of aging and dementia would be useful. Experience with RedCap and iLab is an asset.
