About the Department
The Department of Microbiology faculty researches a vast array ofbacteria and viruses. We are a community of faculty, postdoctoralscholars, students, and staff committed to research and education in thefield of microbiology. Our faculty conduct interdisciplinary researchthat advances the study of microbes and microbial diseases. Basicresearch in Microbiology underwrites out effort for eradication ofimportant pathogens, prevention of human diseases, development of genetherapies and the evolution of new strategies for personalized medicine.We are also committed to training the next generation of scientists.This at-will position is wholly or partially funded by contractual grantfunding which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of thecontract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt ofthese grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Job Summary
The job develops and implements programs to promote a research projector contributes to the scientific direction of a research resource.
Responsibilities
Will perform experiments and performing analysis utilizing advancedmicrobiology and immunology skills in cloning, geneticmanipulations, data analysis, statistical analysis, animalinfections, ELISA assays, cell culture and primary cell growth,handling of human blood, cell sorting, fluorescent microscopy,biochemistry, and protein purification.Will perform this work in a BSL3 environment.Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis.Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientificor intellectual information.Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques.Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets forresearch.Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications,including protocols and grants.Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications
