WestRock has embarked on a multi-year business systems transformation initiative. This SAP S4 program is aligned to the company’s Path to One goal of becoming the world’s best paper and packaging company.
The Lead, Product Data Stewardship position is a part of the Data Refinery team, which is responsible for delivering and sustaining data transformation and governance for the SAP S4 roll out.
This leadership role will deliver strategic planning and partner with business contacts to ensure effective execution for future state data delivery and ongoing data quality and stewardship aligned to strategic business needs.
This role will:
Develop strong working knowledge across the WestRock product portfolio in order to effectively lead strategic cross-team data planning and working sessions
Spearhead the vision and roadmap for the Product Master Data domain. Partner with team members and cross-functional SMEs to establish milestones, decompose top-level requirements into data delivery plans, and actively monitor work velocity. Raise recommendations and trade-offs to leadership as organizational priorities evolve.
Ensure data requirements are effectively captured across a broad group of business and functional stakeholders, including data structures such as Groups, Characteristics and Hierarchies. Remain astute to nuances, the needs of individual use cases, and ‘local’ vs ‘global’ considerations.
Analyze, recommend and deliver optimal interim state solutions that align legacy system data and processes with S4 deployment readiness. ‘Think outside the box’ to determine options, partner with stakeholders on business considerations, and independently drive solution delivery.
Partner with the business to establish and sustain stewardship and governance for this domain, including detailed policies, procedures, and quality standards. Maintain ongoing relationships and communications to ensure the evolution of these items remains on-point for the business.
Lead data standards documentation for this domain; facilitate the decision-making framework as needed, for new data values, new field definitions, etc.
Ensure ongoing data quality oversight and root cause analysis to continually provide appropriate training and systems corrections to sustain ongoing quality targets.
Consult industry peers and modern best practices to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and automation.
How you will impact WestRock:
Partner with business leaders to drive data transformation and operationalize the defined stewardship model, in collaboration with divisions and functional stakeholders.
Be a strategic partner to relevant stakeholders by ensuring and executing comprehensive planning for each deployment, including interim state process mapping, change management and strategic communications.
Provide Master Data and Data Quality roadmap sequencing recommendations that ensure incremental value delivery for the business while coordinating with parallel IT and business transformation activities and needs.
What you need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative Business discipline such as Accounting, Economics, Finance; Industrial Engineering; or an equivalent analytical-type subject from an accredited university.
Minimum of 7 - 10 year of experience in corporate or business roles with demonstrated progression of data leadership and direct management responsibilities.
SAP delivery experience preferred. Green field delivery experience is a significant plus.
Process-oriented problem solver, with experience delivering root cause analysis across process, data and systems, and a demonstrated ability to ‘think outside the box’ to propose future approaches.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a global, matrixed, cross-functional environment about complex subjects in a succinct, fact-based way. Must be able to articulate how strong data management processes and solutions directly enable business capabilities and results.
Proven ability to partner effectively with technology teams on detailed data planning and delivery.
Paper, packaging, or manufacturing industry experience is a significant plus.
Self-directed, team player, and results-oriented with proven business acumen.
Strong attention to detail, with ability to balance multiple priorities.
