  The Amgen Thousand Oaks, B31 Drug Product Assembly and Packaging (DPA&P) group is a flexible and agile device assembly and packaging organization providing product in support of clinical trials across the globe and testing for device development. The DPA&P Sr. Manager Manufacturing role offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple functions in the network (e.g., Quality Assurance, Facilities & Engineering, Supply Chain, Combination Product Operations, Packaging Engineering, Regulatory, etc.) while developing a deep understanding of the manufacturing operations and driving the strategic objectives in alignment with the goals of the department and MCS.

  Summary

  The Sr. Manager Manufacturing is responsible for direct management and oversight of Front Line Managers and a production lead(s), who oversee every aspect of manufacturing within DPA&P

  Supervise, manage, lead, coach, hire, and develop front line manager and staff ensuring production schedules and manufacturing commitments are delivered in a safe, compliant, professional, and efficient manner

  Demonstrate Amgen Values and Leadership Attributes and ensure expectations are met for all short and long-term site operational goals related to our production areas and our staff

  Develop, integrate, and share best practices to ensure manufacturing targets are delivered

  Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  People:

  Ensure staff training is kept up to date, and advance cross-training plan to improve bench strength within the organization

  Focuses on people in the organization to ensure an engaged motivated workforce and to ensure consistent clear communication which is aligned across the leadership team

  Role model active caring to advance the culture of safety and continuous improvement through PPoF, See Cards, learning group special topics, etc...

  Advance DI&B through maintaining a staff mentoring program, fostering team building activities, and working with the plant scheduler to ensure staff have time to participate in engagement activities.

  Process:

  Provide leadership presence during event triage; lead problem-solving sessions where needed; ensure timely closure of countermeasures to ensure no repeat issues impact production

  Monitor plant capacity and capabilities against the LRS demand and portfolio prioritization, and partner with supply chain and plant scheduler to identify mitigation plans for periods of high utilization

  Partner with Line Owner (LO) Sr Manager to identify process improvement opportunities to drive productivity and sustainability within the organization

  May lead continuous improvement or sustainability projects with visibility at the MCS Leadership level

  Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DPA&P business partners and FDP and Technology networks to ensure knowledge sharing and best practices are identified and implemented in DPA&P

  Business Performance:

  Collaborate with the DPA&P Leadership team to develop the plant strategy, strategic initiatives, and budget

  Collaborate with plant director on business performance deliverables and initiatives (e.g. business reviews, best plant award, EIO submissions, etc…)

  Support annual Lean Peer Review

  Support on-site inspections from regulatory agencies, partners, or internal auditors

  Basic Qualifications:

  Doctorate degree and 2 years of manufacturing or operations experience OR

  Master’s degree and 6 years of manufacturing or operations experience OR

  Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of manufacturing or operations experience OR

  Associate’s degree and 10 years of manufacturing or operations experience OR

  High school diploma / GED and 12 years of manufacturing or operations experience

  In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.
