  The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Executive Communications Manager in our C-Suite Office.

  This position will work a hybrid schedule, in office and home based . While the position is preferred to be based out of the American Heart Association’s National Center in Dallas, Texas, flexibility may be offered depending on the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.

  Responsibilities

  This individual writes, develops, coordinates, and implements executive-level communications, messaging, and digital assets for the fast-paced American Heart Association Office of the CEO.

  Under the direction of the National Sr. Director of Executive Communications, you will collaborate closely with Association executives, content experts, volunteer leaders, and external stakeholders to deliver highly compelling communication deliverables that support the vision of the Association’s CEO, President and Chairperson of the Board that build the Association’s brand and generate momentum toward achieving the Association’s mission and goals. Such communications will include internally- and externally-focused talking points, keynotes, scripts, blogs, editorials, graphics, slides, video productions and storyboards, social media posts, and reports that highlight the Association’s impact and strategies.

  Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience producing dynamic communication deliverables that demonstrate a unique balance of creative, editorial, technical, research, and storytelling skills. Strong relationship-building skills are expected, especially with C-suite executives inside and outside the Association.

  Writes, edits, and produces outstanding communications and marketing deliverables for the Association’s CEO, National Volunteer Leadership, and National Sr. Director, Executive Communications as identified to foster the mission and goals of the Association.

  Crafts talking points, keynotes, scripts, graphics/slides, digital assets, reports, and other deliverables for leadership – from concept creation to research, production, editing, coordination, distribution, and ongoing evaluation and management.

  Works efficiently and inventively to build comprehensive communications plans and messaging that engage key Association volunteers, staff, patients, healthcare providers, donors and partners in the work of the Association.

  Proactively manages OCEO communications activities for high-visibility projects, including the Association’s annual report on 10 Commitments to Achieving Health Equity.

  Assists National Sr. Director, Executive Communications, in developing and reviewing and executing OCEO communications plans related to Association programs and projects.

  Coordinates closely with authorities in the Associations five regions to build content for national volunteer leaders’ annual visits with regional volunteers and staff.

  Provides clear direction, input, and expertise to Association colleagues, and with any outside vendors providing services, to effectively and efficiently deliver communications projects on deadline.

  Helps identify and develop relationships with key media outlets, and proactively handles media calls related to assigned projects in coordination with public and media relations staff to reinforce the Association’s positioning.

  Effectively monitors and leads costs for key projects to ensure responsible budget stewardship.

  Qualifications

  Bachelor’s Degree in in Communications, Marketing, or a related field of study.

  Proven skill in executive-level writing and editing for various internal and external audiences and across multiple digital platforms.

  Extensive knowledge of business writing for executives and senior leaders.

  Day-to-day experience in applying the principles and practices of marketing communications planning, execution, and monitoring.

  Experience in writing, developing, and implementing comprehensive communications plans and briefings for senior executives and volunteer leaders.

  Ability to navigate complex messaging scenarios and craft solutions across various aspects of the Association, including the ability to conceptualize and reason through potential risks and benefits to the Association.

  Ability to comfortably and effectively manage multiple projects at one time.

  Demonstrated skill in business writing, copyediting, and oral communications, including oral presentations.

  Ability to effectively interact with association staff and volunteer leadership, donors, patients, media representatives, vendors, and corporate partners.

  Special event coordination experience a plus.

  Experience in supervising communications staff and interns a plus.

  Ability to work in a fast-moving, dynamic team environment with all levels of association staff and volunteers.

  Ability to travel up to 15% local and overnight stay.

You will also have a total of 12 paid holidays off each year, which includes several days off at the end of the year.
