OVERVIEW
The Sr. Corporate Controls Engineer reports to the Corporate Director of Controls Engineering. This position is responsible for the successful design and support of process control systems for the Corporate Engineering Team. Specifically, this role will support network, control domain(s), operating systems (OS) and applications for manufacturing processes. In addition, the Corporate Controls Engineers will analyze, design, and implement the algorithms needed to sustain continuous improvement based on manufacturing direction and will direct the activities of other resources to implement design(s).
In this position, the Corporate Controls Engineer will interact heavily with local controls team(s) at ASR Groups’ various sites. He/she will function as a technical resource/Subject Matter Expert (SME) and advisor as well as ensure local sites are compliant with corporate standards. The successful candidate must be motivated and self-directed, requiring minimal supervision and the ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and quickly implement their strategy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an assertive character are essential to be successful in this role.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited university
5+ years of process automation and controls experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is highly preferred
REQUIRED SYSTEM CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS
Advance knowledge and practical experience of designing control algorithms for various applications, including motion control, process control, robotics, and automation.
Advance skills in configuration, programming, and troubleshooting of PLC-based controls and SCADA systems.
Advance knowledge and practical experience in protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, PROFIBUS, or DeviceNet.
Advance knowledge and practical experience of TCP/IP, Ethernet, and other communication protocols for networked control systems.
Advance skills in understanding electrical schematic wiring diagrams for power distribution, motor control circuits, etc.
Intermediate skill working with databases, database management systems (DBMS), and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Basic understanding integration of control systems with IoT technologies for data analytics, predictive maintenance, or remote monitoring.
Understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and frameworks for developing intelligent control systems or anomaly detection.
PREFERRED SYSTEM CAPABILITIES AND SKILLS
Allen Bradley PLC family including ControlLogix and PlantPAx
Proficient in any one of the high-level programming languages including Python, MATLAB, or Java
Proficient in Wonderware Systems Platform
Intermediate knowledge of ISA & NIST automation and OT security standards
Advance Skills with Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite & Power BI
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee control system projects portfolio from requirements gathering to project justification, including pre-bid walkthroughs and cost estimation.
Develop Statements of Work (SOWs) for project work and equipment installation, coordinating project schedules and supporting commissioning plans.
Attend or conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) while executing or supervising equipment testing.
Learn and implement new technologies such Big Data Analytics, Industry 4.0, CPwE architecture, Edge Computing, and Machine Learning
Completes projects in a timely manner within budget
Develops logic and algorithms for both discrete and analog control of processes
Develops HMI applications to meet the needs of the operations
Document and provides training and technical support
Completes other duties as assigned
