About SQL Server Database Developer

  Description

  We are seeking a skilled SQL Server Database Developer with expertise in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), Data Warehousing, and BI (Business Intelligence) Reporting for a 6-month contract position. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions, ensuring efficient ETL processes, and contributing to the creation of insightful BI reports. This position is based in Charlotte, NC, and offers a hybrid work schedule.

  Responsibilities:

  Database Development:

  Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases to support business applications.

  Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity.

  ETL Processes:

  Develop and implement ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into SQL Server databases.

  Troubleshoot and optimize existing ETL workflows for maximum efficiency.

  Data Warehousing:

  Design and maintain data warehousing solutions to support business analytics and reporting requirements.

  Implement best practices for data warehousing, including data modeling and indexing strategies.

  BI Reporting:

  Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.

  Design and develop BI reports using tools such as SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) or Power BI.

  Performance Tuning:

  Conduct performance tuning on SQL queries and database processes to optimize system responsiveness.

  Implement indexing and partitioning strategies for improved query performance.

  Documentation:

  Maintain comprehensive documentation for databases, ETL processes, and BI reports.

  Ensure documentation is kept up-to-date with any changes or enhancements.

  Collaboration and Communication:

  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data and reporting requirements.

  Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

  Requirements

  Qualifications:

  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Developer, specifically in ETL, Data Warehousing, and BI Reporting.

  Strong proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

  Experience with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and BI tools (SSRS, Power BI).

  Knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and optimization techniques.

  Familiarity with hybrid work environments and the ability to work in Charlotte.

  Preferred Skills:

  Certification in Microsoft SQL Server or related technologies.

  Experience with other ETL tools and technologies.

  Knowledge of data governance and compliance best practices.

  Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Data Warehouse).

  Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
