Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive and complex risk assessments, clinical interviews, and psychosocial assessment of children and adults. Make treatment recommendations to the multi-disciplinary Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee team. Obtain relevant data from various agencies to compile information and present for a determination of abuse or neglect to the Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee. Analyze the information and use professional judgment concerning difficult decisions that may have serious consequences to the child or the family. Provide therapeutic treatment to victims, offenders and family members of those involved in domestic violence or child abuse or neglect. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for the Social Worker (Family Advocacy) GS-12: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes in a family advocacy environment, assessing incidents of abuse, and providing counseling to abusers or victims. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires 2 years of experience working in the field of child abuse and domestic abuse.
