The incumbent will provide direct professional social work services through routine mental health evaluations and patient referral to individuals, groups, or through community outreach initiatives. Provide diagnoses and treatment for a wide range of social and psychological problems. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: In order to qualify for this position, you must have a master's degree in Social Work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples Include: provide initial mental health evaluation, follow-up counseling, facilitate patients with available resources both public and private, coordinate additional appointments through patient evaluation, the use automated data systems for documentation narratives, therapy plans, and compliance reports. -OR- Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in social work. GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Examples Include: provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments, mental health evaluations, coordinate patient care, make diagnosis, serve as liaison to health care providers and stakeholders to establish patient care plan, respond to emergency mental health situations, use counseling theories, techniques, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), and (DSM-5). -OR- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in social work or related field or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in social work. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
