  Brief Summary of Work for this Position

  The Registered Nurse functions as member of a clinical team in the provision of healthcare in a fast-paced college health center. Responsibilities include obtaining pertinentmedical information during check-in; educating patients; providing care and treatment topatients consistent with nursing practice and theory; and administering vaccinations andperforming basic laboratory tests. Must demonstrate the ability to accurately assess apatient's medical problem. May assume a lead role in the clinic whenever necessary.

  Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.

  Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  Must demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and patient careMust demonstrate the ability to accurately assess a patient and perform clinical skillsincluding administering medications and immunizations, drawing blood, starting IVs andperformingEKGS* Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality and the ability to handlesituations with tact and discretion* Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the abilityto communicate effectively to students, families, staff and faculty* Must demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of staff across multiple disciplines* Must demonstrate the ability to function independently, seeking input as needed, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment.* Must demonstrate strong attention to detail

The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
