Job Summary :
Shipping: Performs the handling, preparation, and all details pertaining to shipping various products, under minimum supervision.
Receiving: Performs the handling, receiving, and checking of incoming materials and supplies to verify quantity and weight in relation to purchase orders, under minimum supervision.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Shipping:
Ships products in accordance with shipping orders, completing bills of lading and all other duties.
Wraps or arranges materials in shipping containers, using excelsior and other packing materials and observes that products are properly packed.
Interprets packing specifications and calculates from drawings or measurement of the equipment to be packed the size of the container and dimensions of pieces.
Selects the correct barrier materials, i.e. cushioning materials, etc., and the required sizes of hardware such as nails, nuts and bolts, etc.
Fabricates wooden crates and applies specified packaging materials. Pack crates with steel strapping. Stencils crates with required addresses as per specifications.
Checks contents of packages for conformity with shipping orders; addresses packages to be shipped; and accurately weighs packages.
Keeps accurate records of shipments and receives proper receipts from carriers.
Operates all types of material handling equipment, such as forklift trucks, hoists, or pump trucks.
Keeps working areas clean and tidy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Receiving:
Identifies and receives all incoming materials and verifies accuracy of incoming shipments. Notes any discrepancies on packing slips and forwards to appropriate person.
Records count into computer system, including using bar coding guns.
Prints bar code labels as required and affixes them to received materials.
Operates all types of material handling equipment, such as forklift trucks, hoists, or pump trucks.
Keeps working areas, including the Received Goods area, clean and tidy.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
High school diploma with over six months to two years previous experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Over six months to two years previous experience as an assembler of mechanical products, including experience as a licensed tow motor operator.
Preferred Qualifications:
Consistently dependable.
Knowledge of ISO Quality program, Ontario safety regulations (ESH) and tow motor requirements as well as plumbing, electrical, and welding.
Ability to read and comprehend work and computer instructions, test procedures, and safety rules, with the ability to record pump test results.
Ability to communicate effectively with other people in the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Job Competence:

Product and location knowledge
Ability to read and comprehend pick and packing slips
Understand and operate Small Courier Software
Knowledge of scanning process including receiving scanning process

Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand for long periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Regularly required to lift and / or move up to 35 pounds.
Frequently required to walk, talk, see, and hear.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions while performing pump tests and vibrations.
Noise levels in the work environment are usually quiet to moderate.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of hot/cold environments.
Exposure to elements such as noise, dust, brightly lit areas etc.
