Position Specific Description
Employees in this role ensure the smooth and accurate settlement of NextEra Energy Marketing’s (NEM) gas and oil energy trading activity. Attention to detail, organization and analytical skills are crucial for success in this role.
• Transaction Processing: Invoice external counterparties for trading activity timely and accurately
• Documentation Review: Verify and review transaction documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Settlement Coordination: Coordinate the settlement of trading activity by working with Front Office and external counterparties. This involves ensuring timely and accurate cash settlement.
• Reconciliation: Reconcile internal transaction records with external statements to identify and resolve any discrepancies
• Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Front Office, Risk, and Accounting, to ensure effective communication and coordination of settlement activities.
• Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve any settlement-related issues or discrepancies. This involves liaising with Front Office and external parties to address and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Technology Utilization: Use and navigate relevant financial systems and settlement platforms to process transactions efficiently.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all settlement activities. Ensure that documentation is readily available for audits and regulatory inspections.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the settlement workflow. Work towards enhancing efficiency and reducing operational risks.
• Customer Support: Provide support and assistance to internal and external stakeholders regarding settlement-related inquiries and issues.
Job Overview
Employees in this role are responsible for the most complex settlement responsibilities focused around third-party energy commodity purchases through the preparation and processing of settlement invoices. This position will also work to identify settlement discrepancies and work with customers, schedulers and/or traders to resolve those discrepancies.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Under general supervision:
• Prepares and analyzes closing reports, assists with ad hoc requests
• Responds to various information requests from internal and external auditors and other groups
• Assists with processing settlement invoices/purchase statements and for providing management with explanations (volumetric/valuation) for estimate to actual variances
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
