About Serology Technologist- 1st shift

  The Serology Lab Tech is responsible for testing blood and other body fluids

  Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 6am-2:30pm

  Shift: 1st, differential not included

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   Sets up and runs lab tests.Performs testing including but not limited to basic urinalysis, hematology, and chemistry tests.Reads and releases FCV, HWAB, Accuplex, HW, FELV, FIV-IFA, FCV-IFA, all other IFA testing as required, and FIV EIA test results.Proficient in the use and maintenance of the IFA microscope.Assist with training.Test performed may be more routine and less complex.Checks supply inventory.Exercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results.Performs equipment maintenance activities.Knowledge of lab equipment and procedures.Awareness of quality control and calibration.Consult with senior peers on non-complex tasks to learn through experience.Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.Works on tasks that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required.May be crossed trained to perform specimen processing responsibilities.May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.   REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  Laboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments.General science background, including hematology/chemistry helpful.Attention to detail.Organized with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Communication skills, both verbal and written.Positive, can-do attitude.Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriate.Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office.

  Qualification:

  Knowledge of lab equipment and proceduresAwareness of quality control and calibration1 years of related experience and a bachelors degree in a science discipline or graduated from an MLS program with ASCP certificationLaboratory skills, with experience setting up, running and reading lab tests and operating lab instrumentsGeneral science background, including hematology/chemistry helpfulOrganized with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCommunication skills, both verbal and writtenPositive, can-do attitudeKnowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as appropriatePersonal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft OfficeExtensive sitting, phone, and computer useCapable of standing continuously for up to 2 hoursMay be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbsSpecific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusHearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in personAbility to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
