  SEO Manager

  As an SEO Manager at Caterpillar you will be responsible for all aspects of Global Search Engine Optimization for Caterpillar’s eCommerce portfolio. As part of the eCommerce Discovery Product Management Team, you will lead various SEO projects by performing keyword research, link building, competitive analysis, search audits, and technical SEO consultation, all in an effort to increase organic web traffic to Caterpillar’s eCommerce applications.

  You will present SEO recommendations to product owners and business unit partners, scope and define requirements for SEO improvement projects, and validate SEO enhancements completed by the development team. You will be responsible to track and prioritize all SEO initiatives to ensure the most important and time sensitive items are getting addressed first while maintaining previously agreed upon commitments. As the primary contact for all SEO related activities within eCommerce, you will be required to provide consultation and education about the benefits and strategy behind SEO to a diverse audience throughout the larger eCommerce team and company.

  You will provide strategic SEO guidance as it relates to our Caterpillar sites. You will work closely with the eCommerce Content Team to provide guidelines for product titles and descriptions based on keyword and competitive research while also providing recommendations to the development team for page titles, heading tags, and meta descriptions.

  Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  As a self-starter, you will provide project leadership, consultation, and expert advice by serving as the lead SEO advisor for various eCommerce initiatives

  Apply ethical SEO best practices when performing tasks such as keyword research, competitive analysis, meta tag creation, and social media optimization

  Keep up-to-date on current SEO strategies through continuing education, seminars, subscriptions, and self-study; Apply and share these strategies and updates with cross-functional teams and workgroups

  Work closely with product owners and the development team to document technical SEO requirements, consult on specific design, layout, and technical questions, and test and validate prior to release

  Work cross-functionally with internal business partners on technical and content specific SEO recommendations to support eCommerce initiatives

  Document, track changes, and perform analysis of the SEO KPIs for the purpose of reporting and strategy adjustment

  Partner with Caterpillar marketing teams to maximize SEM and SEO efficiencies.

  On a daily basis, you will analyze SEO tools and analytics for possible improvements and communicate them to the product owners.

  Required Qualifications:

  Four-year bachelor’s degree preferably in Marketing, Communications, or related field

  5 years of SEO experience

  3-4 years of experience using an enterprise SEO platform such as BrightEdge (preferred), technical SEO platforms such as Screaming Frog or DeepCrawl, Google Search Console, Bing/Baidu/Yandex Webmaster Tools, keyword tools, Majestic, etc.

  3-4 years of experience using Google Analytics or similar web reporting platform to extract insights and actionable data

  3+ years of experience within eCommerce

  Experience as a digital marketing copywriter or similar content producer

  Experience with optimizing for Google, Bing, Yahoo, as well as regional search engines such as Baidu and Yandex

  Applied knowledge of keyword research, link building, on-page optimization, ranking factors, technical factors (html, schema, canonical tags, hreflang, xml sitemaps, robots.txt files, creating redirects, etc.), and SEO Audits (both for content and technical)

  Desire to continually learn, research, and evolve based on changing SEO strategies and various behaviors of online search engines while considering global differences

  Desired Qualifications:

  Experience with AEM and Websphere Commerce

  Familiarity with Product Information Management (PIM) or Content Management Systems (CMS)

  Applied knowledge of keyword analysis for Caterpillar products/services/industries

  Excellent verbal communication skills

  Organization skills, able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  Analytical/Problem solving skills

  In-depth Project Management skills

  Comfortable analyzing high volumes of data on a daily basis

  Experience with paid search (i.e. Google Ads)

  Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps

  The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the incumbent normally works independently with minimal management input and review of end results.

  The ideal location for this role are Chicago, IL, Dallas, TX, Peoria, IL, or Westminster, CO, but we would consider Remote.

  Compensation & Benefits:

  Base salary for this role ranges from $123,480 to $185,280. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:

  Summary Pay Range:

  $123,480.00 - $185,280.00

  Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
