Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant to join a reputable Motor Freight Forwarder company. Key parts of the role include preparing and consolidating financial statements, analyzing and reconciling accounts, analyzing cash flow, creating budgets and forecasts, preparing audits, and managing internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. Candidates should enjoy analytical tasks, challenges, and fast-paced environments. This Senior Accountant role is located in Chicago, Illinois within the Motor Freight Forwarder field. Major responsibilities

Offer involvement in various department-wide initiatives

Provide monthly accounting closure procedures and deliverables, which includes journal entries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP

Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary

Provide assistance in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external

Review financial information such as trends, performance metrics, benchmarks, etc. and present analysis in a clear manner

Allocate and prepare monthly consolidated P L and Balance Sheet flux analysis reports for management

Supply Balance Sheet account reconciliations

Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls; while also providing support on special requests when required

Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions

Requirements

Requirements:

Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Current and relevant ERP system experience

Strong communication and social skills

BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred

Understanding of corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required

Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment

Self-starter and strong ethical standards

Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience

Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus

SEC reporting and SOX compliance is a plus

Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

Engages effectively in self-directed time management and prioritization of workload
