　　The Senior Tax Accountant analyzes and interprets tax laws, regulations, GAAP, and Statutory tax accounting principles, and prepares technical reports on how they impact the organization's operations. The Senior Tax Accountant work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

　　In this role the Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for state and local income/franchise/occupational tax compliance, annual reports, supporting tax audits, planning, tax research, handling tax notices, and assisting other tax areas as needed. Maintains tax information and records, prepares tax returns and other required reports, and pays tax declarations so that compliance obligations are submitted accurately and on time. Prepares correspondence with external tax agencies (for example, auditors). Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

　　Required Qualifications

　　Bachelor's degree

　　Experience with computerized tax software and research programs (Thomson Reuters products a plus)

　　Multi-state income tax experience

　　Strong tax compliance skills necessary

　　Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite

　　Knowledge of tax law and current developments

　　Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　Certified Public Accountant

　　Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related field

　　Additional Information

　　The workstyle for this role, if one lives within a commutable distance, (within 50 miles) to the downtown Louisville, KY office, will be hybrid home/office - 2-3 days in office. If one does not live within a commutable distance to the Louisville office, the workstyle will be fully remote.

　　*Must be willing to work overtime, if needed, around tax deadlines and help other team members to complete assignments timely.

　　Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

　　Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

　　Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
