Our Software Development team architects, develops, tests and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model, a state-of-the-art suite of engineering software tools running on high performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for the modeling of resource allocation and end-to-end communication system performance analysis of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation. As a Senior Software Tester, the selected candidate will ensure the quality and reliability of the System Model codebase, through effective and automated software testing, in Matlab, C/C++ and Python. The selected candidate will develop, enhance and maintain a framework for unit testing, end-to-end testing and continuous integration using tools such as GitLab, Git Runners, and Slurm-based HPC resources.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases and continuous integration for the System Model suite within varied software development environments including Matlab, C/C++ and Python
Collaborate with the development team to understand software requirements and design test strategies accordingly
Build and maintain automated test frameworks and infrastructure using GitLab, Git Runners, and Slurm-based HPC resources.
Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, performance, and scalability testing, to ensure code quality.
Analyze test results, identify defects, and work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Monitor and manage test environments, ensuring their stability and availability.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to software testing and automation
Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience as a Software Test and Automation Engineer is required
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software development and/or testing
Proven experience as a Software Test and Automation Engineer
Advanced coding skills and experience
Experience with some of the following technologies: C/C++, Python, Golang, Kafka, gRPC, Databases, SQL, Azure, etc.
Experience with Matlab desirable including best practices
Extensive experience with GitLab for version control and CI/CD processes.
Solid understanding of Linux environments and command-line tools.
Previous experience working with Git Runners for test automation.
Experience with agile development
Experience with Linux clusters and cluster job managers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot issues efficiently.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
