Overview

　　The Senior Scientist role is part of an innovative Medicinal Chemistry group, with responsibilities including (but not limited to) the synthesis and purification of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development, including opportunity to work within WuXi AppTec and different capability departments. The Senior Scientist will work independently in planning and executing multi-step synthetic sequences on small and large scale. The Senior Scientist will be responsible to work with modern chromatographic and analytical techniques, including flash chromatography, HPLC, LCMS and NMR.

　　Responsibilities

　　Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires comprehensive evaluation of many factors; Critically evaluate project issues; resolve synthetic challenges.

　　Independently plan and execute multi-step synthetic sequences toward key target molecules, using appropriate purification and compound characterization techniques.

　　Applies independent thinking to recommend alternatives, research new methods and techniques and proactively seek out others to discuss potential solutions to problems.

　　Acts as a resource for other research personnel within the department; Mentoring less experienced scientists; Maintain a high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety.

　　Participates in and presents results at team meetings and the department level.

　　Contributes to the overall operations and to the achievement of departmental goals.

　　Works in multi-disciplinary teams, learns new skills and proactively solves problems.

　　Performs job specific tasks in compliance with applicable Regulations, International Standards, and WuXi AppTec Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.

　　Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: regularly communicate progress and strategy to clients and internal teams and supervise research associates.

　　May be required to assist in other departments; Other duties as assigned.

　　Qualifications

　　Experience / Education

　　PhD degree in chemistry and 5 plus years of medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical research experience or BS or MS degree with extensive industry experience of medicinal chemistry or pharmaceutical research experience.

　　Biotech and CRO experience are preferred.

　　Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

　　Proficient in Oral & Written communication skills; Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook).

　　Excellent collaboration and communication skills (both written and oral) with clients and internal team (Mandarin is not required but is a plus).

　　Expert in modern medicinal and synthetic chemistry approaches.

　　Proficient in using ChemDraw and literature searching software (SciFinder or Reaxys).

　　Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices

　　Physical Requirements:

　　Must be able to work in an office environment with minimal noise conditions.

　　Must be able to work in Lab setting with exposure to Animals/biohazards / Chemicals (List specific Chemicals)

　　Must not have animal allergies to applicable species in this facility

　　Must be able to wear appropriate PPE

　　Must be able to work in environment with variable noise levels

　　Ability to stand /Sit/walk for long periods of time

　　Ability to crouch, bend, twist, and reach

　　Ability to push/pull/lift 10 lbs. routinely/ often / occasionally

　　Ability to identify and distinguish colors, with clear vision

　　Must be able to perform activities with repetitive motions

　　Ability to climb Ladders / Stairs / Scaffolding

　　Ability to work in variable temperatures high to freezing

　　Inside/outside working conditions

　　Anticipated base pay range: $120,000 to $135,000
