About Senior Project Manager - Radiation Oncology

  UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Radiation Oncology team! This role will work at our Shadyside campus and hybrid work opportunities will be available once training is completed. Occasional travel may be required.

  The Senior Project Manager is responsible for developing, defining, and executing project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables for the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Radiation Oncology Network. The primary role of this position is to work with Hillman Cancer Center leadership, corporate and facility management teams, information services, analysts, and third-party partners to lead teams that support construction projects, capital equipment installation, and the improvement of clinical and operational processes. Utilizing a variety of project management and quality improvement approaches, the Sr. Project Manager contributes to the Cancer Center’s mission by managing the implementation of projects that improve access to care, clinical quality, operational standardization, and financial outcomes.

  Responsibilities:

  · Manage the project portfolio for the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Department of Radiation Oncology.

  · Collaborate with Hillman Cancer Center Radiation Oncology leadership to develop and maintain a comprehensive network-wide capital plan incorporating both routine and major capital investments.

  · Partner with construction project managers and subject matter experts to coordinate capital projects across the Radiation Oncology network including budgeting, construction, equipment selection, and installation.

  · Actively participate and/or assume a leadership role on system improvement teams and other key committees.

  · Apply effective tracking methods to monitor progress toward goals and identify the need for redesign of practice improvements.

  · Partner with the Radiation Oncology Quality team to identify trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.

  · Collect and present accurate, timely data to display the results of process improvement efforts.

  · Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.

  · Develop and monitor dashboard indicators to meet organizational goals and develop action plans to address specific concerns and improve quality.

  · Work with other managers to achieve efficiencies across the integration of projects.

  · Develop cross-functional change management and implementation strategies; ensure that all participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures.

  · Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalate issues when necessary, and facilitate decision-making.

  · Assist in analysis, problem-solving, investigations, and special projects as needed.

  · Establish an organized and methodical process for policy review, revision, and cataloging on Sharepoint. Assist in establishing policies, procedures, and tools to support compliance activities related to regulatory changes.

  · Assist in planning, developing, and conducting educational and training sessions.

  · Coordinate and facilitate the work of individuals and groups throughout the organization.

  · Effectively communicate and support the values of UPMC to employees at all levels of the organization.

  · Oversee the collaboration of various departmental end-users in the design/decision-making processes needed to analyze current operation procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements of data.

  · Develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.

  · Demonstrate an understanding of cultural differences and hold peers accountable for healthy relationships.

  · Manage complex interactions between various department processes and workflows.

  · Manage human interactions and organizational issues between multiple departments working on multiple problems simultaneously.

  · Identify management information needs and facilitate access to education necessary to meet those needs.

  · Collaborate and communicate with all levels of the organization to facilitate the accomplishment of the established goals.

  · Serve as a resource and consultant to various disciplines.

  · Recognize symptoms of project problems and react quickly to solve them.

  · Coordinate the planning, design, development, and implementation of the components of the projects being completed.

  · Collaborate and communicate with the clinical team, physician leaders, and other relevant participants to facilitate the successful completion of the projects being implemented.

  *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

  *Performs other duties as assigned.

  Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree and professional certification preferred.

  Five (5) years of related hospital experience.

  Advanced project management skills necessary to demonstrate the ability to plan, implement and manage complex projects.

  Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrates strong and effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  Excellent computer skills required.

  Excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning and organizational skills.

  Ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to provide services to meet needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
