US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting-edge program supporting DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. As a Network Engineer Senior, your role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all networked software associated operating systems. The Senior Network Engineer will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolves issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
Acquisition & Deployment
Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems
Performs complex network development and design work.
Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
Provides input for documentation on new or existing networks.
Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements.
Operational Management
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.
Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
Participates in special projects as assigned.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of network engineers and administrators, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Collaborate with senior management and other teams to understand business objectives and develop network strategies that align with organizational goals.
Lead and delegate troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve network issues, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid incident response.
Set clear expectations and performance goals for the network team, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team, encouraging the exchange of ideas and best practices.
Act as a point of escalation for technical challenges or critical incidents, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
BA/BS degree– may substitute additional years of experience.
Must possess a completed CCNA certification.
Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
Knowledge and experience with service provider routing and switching protocols (e.g. IS-IS, BGP, Service Provider bridging, MPLS).
Knowledge and experience with enterprise routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, Port Aggregates, vPC etc.).
Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS software and hardware features.
Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast (ASM, BiDir, Anycast).
Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels.
Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work.
Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously.

The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
Knowledge and experience with service provider technologies (e.g. VPWS, VPLS, L3VPN, VXLAN)
Knowledge and experience with data center networking (e.g. VXLAN, CLOS)
Understanding of network virtualization concepts as it relates to the datacenter (e.g. presenting networks to hosts, edge trunks, interface mapping)
Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed Professional tier Juniper or Cisco Certification specialized in Enterprise or Service Provider routing and switching.
Knowledge and experience with Juniper JUNOS software and hardware
Knowledge of Automation technologies for networking (e.g. Python/Ansible)
Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets
