At ICON, we have an incredible opportunity for a Senior Medical Technologist to join the PBMC/Molecular team in our Leopardstown, Dublin 18 location.
The Role:
Recognize, exemplify, and adhere to ICON's values.
Perform and monitor the daily activities of the laboratory department specializing in PBMC, Plasma and DNA bio-banking.
Effectively monitor laboratory operations and provides guidance to staff for all issues that arise including, instrument failures, reagent/ quality control issues, sample integrity issues, delays in testing and communication of abnormal results.
Support validation of new methodologies and instrumentation into the department and works closely with the Global Validations Department.
Encourages an environment that motivates people and maintains a positive working environment ensuring and staff engagement.
Take a leading role in staff training and development of technologists, including staff competencies.
Perform and monitor and Proficiency testing, laboratory QC data, Sample TATs and Equipment Maintenance.
Lead by example with respect to timely and quality processing of samples for bio-banking.
Ensure quality control procedures are adhered to, monitors QC data such as: mean and standard deviations for quality control materials and maintain Corrective Action logs as appropriate.
Assist with responding to Quality issues and manages Quality Documentation including writing and maintaining SOPs.
Reports directly to and works with the Laboratory Supervisor, in supporting all activities in the Laboratory department.
Assist Supervisor in ensuring there are sufficient personnel to cover workflow.
Liaise with internal customers, auditors, vendors, and staff on all department levels.
Participate in patient and external proficiency testing as required.
What you will need:
BSc. in Medical Technology , Immunology, Biomedical Science OR a related Life Science with 3+ years Laboratory experience including leadership or Supervisor experience.
A strong background in PBMC isolating and bio-banking is advantageous.
A postgraduate qualification such as an MSc or PhD while desirable, is not essential.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability maintain a high-performance culture.
Experience as a team lead with coaching / mentoring experience is desirable.
Ability to multitask, confident decision making and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to keep accurate, legible records and recognize the need to handle these records and all other information in line with GCP/GLP/GDP.
High level of personal accountability, integrity, and ethical behaviour with a responsible and mature approach to work duties and people management.
