The Senior Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO) reports to the Director of Planning and Site Services and will be responsible for leading the effort, with assistance from various Ginkgo functional teams and Infrastructure Operations to plan and deliver laboratory and office infrastructure for our expanding science platform that aligns with Ginkgo's short/long-term strategic real estate plan for Ginkgo's worldwide real estate portfolio.
You will have direct responsibility for developing, maintaining, and championing project controls, reporting procedures, standards, and managing changes within the operational plan. Plans and leads status review meetings, which may include internal team members, vendors/contractors and senior management. Responsible for the training, managing, and motivating the project team, as well as resolving team conflicts. Internal title is Senior Manager, Project Manager.
Responsibilities:Collaborating with various department leaders and stakeholders to define, prioritize, and develop projects.Planning of the project management life cycle, including deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and assigning team members to various projects and objectives.Analyzing financial data related to project budgets, adherent risk, and resource allocation.Developing and providing financial reports, performance KPIs/metrics, and forecasting budget allocation to the CapEx governance committee.Drafting new and improving existing project management office policies and processes.Continuous evaluation of current projects and project manager performance to ensure they align with existing standards and expectations.Accurately documenting the project's creation, development, and execution as well as, documenting the project scope, budget, and justification.Provide leadership and coaching to project managers and team members.Oversee project management portfolio (CapEx Planning and execution) for the Boston-based facilities.Develop and enhance the department's policies and procedures leverage industry best practices (e.g. project management standards and guidelines, equipment standards, operational procedures, etc.).Ensure that effective commissioning and qualification plans are satisfied for new equipment introduced into the facilities.These responsibilities described above are only a summary of the typical functions for this role. Minimum Requirements:8 YOE with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, Project Management, Architectural or related field; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience in project management in the biotech, research and development, or pharmaceutical industry.Strong leadership skills.Strong understanding of safety regulations related to the construction management industry.Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and leadership skills.Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.Strong attention to detail.Excellent organizational and technical skills.Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.Preferred Capabilities and Experience:A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification may be advantageous.#LI-MB1
