Job Summary:
Under administrative direction, uses creative knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to manage a team of graphic designers, art directors, interactive designers and/or copywriters. Defines and executes visual and messaging brand standards, design and user experience across print, web and mobile applications and other marketing assets. Leads large or multiple projects with significant scope and impact from concept to completion. Works independently on difficult assignments that are broad in nature requiring originality and ingenuity with appreciable latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages creative teams and provides editorial and art direction from concept to the completion of projects.
Drives excellence in copywriting, design and user experience.
Ensures that design strategy and execution align with the end user needs, brand positioning and business requirements.
Defines the goals, requirements, structure, navigation and functionality of effective and engaging user interactions.
Ensures the quality of creative output consistently meets or exceeds client objectives and brand strategy and is delivered on time and on budget.
Maintains a prioritized schedule of deliverables while adjusting to changing priorities.
Reviews the work of teams under their lead, offers constructive feedback throughout development, helps to establish and monitor budgets, and presents creative ideas to account managers and the department’s clients.
Assists in training, developing and mentoring creative staff members (writers, graphic and interactive designers).
Interviews, recruits and trains new creative associates.
Writes development plans and conducts semi-annual and annual reviews with members of their team.
Assists in communicating and developing the department’s vision; working with department’s senior management to impart guidance and direction, and otherwise support strategic objectives.
Directly trains creative team on new techniques and technologies.
Sets and communicates high expectations for the creative team.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
Strong concepts, practices and procedures of design and copywriting.
Strong concepts, principles and practices of marketing and financial services industry regulations.
Exceptional mastery of skills and expectations of a senior writer, designer/art director, and media/interactive roles.
Exceptional technical knowledge expected of senior writer, designer/art director, and media/interactive roles.
Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.
Skill in:
Leadership and management of staff.
Organizing multiple priorities and tasks.
Designing, developing and managing marketing projects.
Meets creative thinking, analysis and problem-solving expectations of senior writer, designer/art director, and media/interactive roles.
Thinking independently to consider the business reality of decisions related to creative work.

Edit copy, to provide direction for improving layout, to enhance user experience and to direct smaller scope video- and audio-related projects.
Exceptional ability for collaborating with designers, writers and account/product managers to help craft strong visual communications and infographics.
Work accurately with attention to detail on marketing materials, presentations and written communication.
Organize, manage and track multiple projects with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
Provide a high level of service.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals at all organizational levels.
Presentation skill; ability to communicate across teams and within teams; with all levels of management.
Exceptional ability to interpret or develop creative strategy and drive a team's execution in line with that strategy and client expectations
Develop an effective creative strategy that aligns with business objectives.
Refine copy and enhance messaging by setting the appropriate tone, to create or refine overall visual tone, to enhance a full range of interactive communications (from display ads to apps) and to direct medium scope video- and audio-related projects.
Educational/Previous Experience Recommendations:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Design, English or related field with a minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience.
Two (2) years’ prior management experience required.
