Within Microsoft’s Business Applications Platform (BAP), we are building our first “AI first” moonshot enterprise product in a fast moving and agile way. As a v0 product, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what a business application can be. The goal is to deliver a tightly scoped product that immediately delivers impact to users and customers and gets them looking for more. The Design team is integrated with product and engineering to make data-informed decisions.
As a Senior Interaction Designer, you will be responsible for designing and delivering meaningful and trustworthy, AI-powered experiences to our business users. Our key goal is to address our business users’ jobs-to-be-done and pain points, and this role will propel you to think outside the box to incorporate Large Language Models (LLMs) and predictive models to designing experiences users may not be accustomed to in an enterprise setting.

Responsibilities
You will generate and lead ideation of solutions for complex User Expereince (UX) (e.g., involving many constraints, needing workarounds, requiring holistic view of interconnected systems) to improve product design. You utilize a variety of perspectives when ideating (e.g., business, experience, technology) and synthesize complex ideation solutions to a concise set of user needs.
You will create wireframes, prototypes, journey maps, user jobs and scenarios, task flows, and personas in support of interaction designs for hardware and/or software-based experiences. Conceptualizes and delivers artifacts at various levels of fidelity.
You are an individual contributor who can provide guidance to the Design team along with the broader product and engineering teams. You will help ensure understanding of the original design and vision, and links to established problem and/or goal.
You are comfortable with ambiguity and dealing with complex situations by creating clarity for the design team and cross-functional partners. Being open to pushing new ideas and sometimes making pivots, dropping them, and moving on as a team in light of new learnings, feedback, and requirements.
You focuson progress and quality but not perfection – because of the fast-paced timelines, our goal is to get user and team feedback quickly and frequently so that we can learn quickly and apply learnings in real product environments.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
OR equivalent experience (e.g., experience using design thinking to solve problems).
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements arerequired for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications:
Interaction design experience with visual attention to detail
Demonstratable knowledge of user-centered design methods and usability principles
Track record of creating or improving product user experienceideally with success metrics
Ability to think creatively and critically about design problems, especially ambiguous ones
Ability to present your work to peers across disciplines
Experience with an iterative design process
Systems thinker (E2E focus)
Experienced with current design tools (Figma)
Understanding of design languages (e.g., Fluent)
Experience working on gen AI enterprise and/or products and features
Experience with design consulting
Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
