The Senior Manager, FP&A will lead the global financial planning and analysis function for the Learning & Development Segment comprising the Writing and Baby Business Units. The position will provide financial leadership and expertise to the respective teams as we execute the Brand growth strategies. The position will support the estimate process, the month-end, quarter-end and year-end process, budgeting and forecasting, product and customer profitability analysis, pricing strategy, and trade spending analysis and reporting. The position will also conduct financial reporting and analysis to assess and identify the risks and opportunities, develop consistent sales reporting that measures performance which is issue oriented and drives accountability.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with regional and center led teams to coordinate timely and accurate closing, budgeting & forecasting cycle. Analyze monthly results and / or trending data to support the monthly/quarterly estimate, include risk and opportunity assessments.
• Support Segment CFO and Business Unit CFOs in the overall Financial Management of the Segment
• Provide Project Management and Risk Management Leadership
• Insightful analysis of monthly income statement, balance sheet and cash flow results. Analyze, validate and pressure test supplemental analytics, including sales walks and gross margin walks.
• Support the teams through rigorous financial analysis of forecast assumptions, historical performance and sales acceleration opportunities
• Support the monthly performance reporting activities including timely and insightful commentary on performance compared to the prior year and to estimates.
• Prepare global cash flow forecast for Segment; identify and drive opportunities for improvement
• Direct management of overhead / SG&A spending with US functional leads
• Drive standardized processes and reporting across countries and business units. Strive to reduce complexity in all areas of finance.
• Ensure full internal control measures are in place and complied with according to the guidelines of internal and external audit and more specifically, Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Evaluate current systems and processes and recommend appropriate value-added changes to enhance sales systems tools and information.
• Provide strong leadership and communication to the business.
• Provide career development and coaching/mentoring to the finance staff using the Newell Brands individual performance management process.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• 10 - 15 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in a Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) environment.
• Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Significant experience with SAP and Hyperion is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
• Demonstrated accomplishments in the areas of finance and accounting.
• Sales and marketing finance experience strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to foster and develop strong finance teams that partner with business teams to drive growth.
• Ability to assess risks and opportunities within complex business situations.
• Demonstrated ability to recommend and make decisions quickly under any situation.
• Demonstrated record of solid career progression.
• Action orientation and assertive style.
• Ability to be objective is required.
